Howdy, I’m Simret and I’d like to thank you for following my blog.

Humble beginnings for me began at the tender age of 8 where I would dress my brother and sister as goblins, devise dream worlds, closing the bedroom curtains and transforming the bunk bed into a secret abyss.

Years on I discovered fuel for writing by reading horror novels and watching movies further enhanced by my own imagination. This caused all sorts of trouble amongst my family and even friends.

A school suspension later (for producing a pornographic comic strip in year 8), I was further punished for a graphic poem published in the English Magazine. Well, they should have read it before publishing…

Media Studies and English were my favourite subjects and Biology (although I was no good at it). I loved anything about the human anatomy, in fact I convinced myself I wanted to be surgeon, until I realised I just liked to play the role of the Doctor than actually understand the science of it all.

College was spiked with self-discovery and trauma, but it got me good enough grades to get into university.

I wanted to do Film Studies but was discouraged by articles in the newspaper explaining how they were ‘Mickey Mouse’ degrees, so I did Broadcast Journalism and Politics. I still managed to get myself on a Film Studies module and really wished I could have studied film instead.

Nevertheless, I taught myself how to use a camera, lived in the Midlands for 8 years (I just noticed how often the number 8 features in my life), travelled to many countries on commissioned art-multimedia projects and worked with like-minded filmmakers at a grassroots level.

I then moved back to London, re-associated my brain with my hand and we started collaborating deeply. I’ve made a few films, music videos, performed/modelled at various alternative/horror events/films/music videos, interviewed many great horror authors/directors, written short stories and finished my third erotic sci-fi horror film which was shot in Vietnam. I’ve won 11x awards so far and premiered at two of the world’s biggest genre film festivals – Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival and Fantastic Festival.

I now live in Paris, France where I’m discovering like-minded alternative horror, sci-fi fans, artist- family, as I transition into the next artistic and social phase of my life.

Thanks for your time and I hope you enjoy my blog!
